UGL Premas has clinched the 27-year Public Private Partnership (PPP) project for the new Institute of Technical Education (ITE) College West campus in Singapore. As a member of the Gammon Capital Consortium, UGL Premas will be responsible for the facilities maintenance and operation management for this project. ITE College West is the first educational institution to be built under a public-private partnership arrangement in Singapore. As the second mega-campus, planned after ITE College East opened its doors in Simei in 2005, this new college will house students from the existing five ITE campuses. The cost of construction for this project is estimated at SGD323.7 million. Scheduled to commence operation in early 2010, the college will cater to 7,200 full-time and 8,100 part-time students. When completed, the ITE College West campus will house three key schools, namely Business & Services, Engineering and Electronics & Infocomm Technology. Its focus will be on service industry training, in addition to the core engineering and business courses. This 9.54 hectares campus with a total Gross Floor Area of 114,480m2 will house a 22-room hotel, restaurants, shops, stores, cafes, a car showroom, a convention centre and even a tourist information centre. These facilities will be opened to the public for students to receive hands-on training in preparation for the working world. UGL Premas will provide comprehensive hard and soft FM services, ranging from property and contract administration to M&E, fire safety, security and other operation services for this new campus. This second PPP achievement for UGL Premas, after the appointment as Preferred Bidder for the design, construction, financing and operation of the Singapore Sports Hub project, marks another milestone in our strategy of creating sustainable PPP businesses in the region. |
